How to Configure Wordfence Security Plugin for WordPress
Wordfence Security is a great plugin for protecting WordPress website. But proper Wordfence settings are very important. Today in this article we will cover how to configure Wordfence security plugin for WordPress site.
Many such bloggers who just install Wordfence security plugin, but they do not know how to configure the Wordfence security plugin.
Wordfence comes with free and premium plan. The basic plan of Wordfence is free, but premium version offers more advanced features such as country blocking, firewall rules updated in real time, scheduled scanning, etc.

First, install the Wordfence security plugin. For this, log in to the WordPress dashboard and then click on Plugins >> add new then type Wordfence in the search box, now you will see Wordfence security plugin in the search result, just click install now. you can see screenshot below.
After activating the plugin, it will add a new menu item "Wordfence" to your WordPress dashboard.
When you click on it, it will show you the Wordfence security settings overview. Also, you can see security notifications & stats like recent IP blocking, failed login attempts, total attacks blocked etc.
Click on Wordfence >> Firewall >> Manage Firewall.
In the next page, select the "Enabled and Protecting" option from the Web Application Firewall Status drop-down menu. Then click Optimize the Wordfence firewall.
Now, Wordfence will run some tests to detect your server configuration and ask to download your current .htaccess file as a backup file. Click on the 'Download .htaccess' button then hit on Continue button. You can see screenshot below.
Now it will show you the Installation Successful Massage.
After clicking on the Close button, You will be redirected to the firewall page, here you will see your protection level as "Extended protection".
When configuring the WordPress security plugin, you will see the "Learning Mode" button. But after a week it will automatically switch to "Enabled and Protecting" mode.
Furthermore, by clicking on Wordfence >> Tools page, you can add Two-Factor Authentication password to your Login Security. Apart from this, you can see the Live Traffic page.
Just click on Wordfence >> Scan option then click on the "Start New Scan" button.
Wordfence security will now start scanning your WordPress site. It will scan WordPress core, theme file, plugin files, suspicious codes, backdoors, malicious URLs and more.
