How To Noindex Tags and Categories in WordPress

If you use Yoast SEO or All in One SEO Pack plugin on your site, you can easily Noindex WordPress categories and tags on your site.

Yoast SEO is the best SEO plugin that helps to improve your WordPress SEO. It comes with some important features that include noindex for tags and categories.

First, click on SEO >> Search Appearance >> Taxonomies and follow the screenshot below.

B. Noindex Tags and Categories using All in One SEO Pack

All in One SEO Pack is also a very popular and good WordPress SEO plugin. It is the best alternative of Yoast SEO.

First, click on All in One SEO Pack >> General Settings then scroll to Noindex Settings. Follow the screenshot below

2. Noindex WordPress Categories and Tags Using Robots.txt File


The robots.txt file helps to understand to search engine bots which part of the site you want to index in search engine.

If you want to use Robots.txt file to noindex Categories and Tags, you will need to add two line in your Robots.txt file.

Here are the two lines that you have to paste in your Robots.txt file.
User-agent: *
Disallow: /tag/
Disallow: /category/

If you use the Genesis Framework, you can easily use the noindex tag for categories and tags archive using its SEO option.
